#3. Birmingham, AL

Birmingham traffic is a cinch when compared to its neighboring Southern city, Atlanta. Wallethub scored this charming city as America’s 13th best city to drive in, and one resident claims that his 21-mile commute takes only 30 minutes during peak rush hours. The TomTom Traffic Index states that Birmingham’s congestion level is just 12 percent (compared to a whopping 21 percent in Atlanta.)

In recent years, the burgeoning city of Birmingham has also made a name for itself as a tech hotspot, where it is home to a growing number of startups and tech companies, including grocery service Shipt. It’s also a leader in the nation’s healthcare industry with a top medical school at the University of Alabama -Birmingham and more than a dozen hospitals in the area. In addition, nearby Huntsville was named by Livability.com as the #1 Best City for STEM Workers in America.
