The future is bright in Brighton these days, especially on the economic development front. This municipality of 40,000-plus residents received good news in 2023 when energy manufacturers Amprius Technologies and VSK Energy announced they had chosen Brighton to set up major manufacturing operations. Here’s a look at the energy investments in Brighton, a beautiful city in Adams County.

New Energy Investments in Brighton

Amprius Technologies will be housed in a 775,000-square-foot factory that will begin manufacturing in 2025, with plans to add approximately 300 people to its workforce. VSK Energy is investing $250 million for a manufacturing facility that will open in late 2024.

California-based Amprius Technologies produces lithium-ion batteries for the electric vehicle market. India-based VSK Energy will hire over 900 employees to manufacture solar industry photovoltaic (PV) panels and modules at the Brighton plant.

“We also got word in 2023 that existing company Vestas will be expanding and hiring up to 1,000 new employees at its Brighton and Windsor facilities that manufacture turbines for the wind energy industry,” says Robin Martinez, president/CEO of Brighton Economic Development.

Good Infrastructure in Place

Martinez says Brighton has seen steady business growth over the past 10 years, and a big reason is due to the city’s attractive location and infrastructure.

“Brighton has access to Interstate 76, U.S. Highway 85 and the E-470 express tollway, and we are near Denver International Airport,” she says. “We also have good utility providers with United Power and Xcel Energy, and a new water treatment facility is under construction that will open in 2025 to accommodate even more growth.”

Martinez adds that Brighton has several available acres of industrial park property.

“We also have a strong labor force in sectors like construction, manufacturing and distribution/warehousing as well as professional business services,” she says. “Brighton is ideal for clean-tech companies to locate and grow, especially with the vast number of resources we have here.”
