High school graduates have plenty of outstanding options to choose from when pursuing their degree and determining their career trajectory in the Greater Daytona region. And thankfully, they won’t have to travel far to find a high quality higher education. Here’s a quick overview of the postsecondary schools, colleges and universities in Daytona Beach and Volusia County. 

Bethune-Cookman University 

Location: Daytona Beach 

Enrollment: 2,500 

Popular programs: Nursing, hospitality, environmental studies, criminal justice and religion 

Fun fact: The school’s band – the Marching Wildcats – has 300+ members and is the largest student organization on campus. They once starred in a multiseason Netflix series called “Marching Orders.” 

Daytona State College 

Location: Daytona Beach 

Enrollment: About 23,000 total students at its seven instructional sites in the Greater Daytona region 

Popular programs: Health care, emergency services, business, education, hospitality and culinary management, cybersecurity, engineering technology, and computer science 

Fun fact: U.S. News & World Report has named DSC the Highest Ranked Public State College in Florida for 11 straight years. 

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University 

Location: Daytona Beach 

Enrollment: 8,300 at Daytona Beach campus with 31,000 total at several campuses worldwide 

Popular programs: Aviation, air traffic management, applied science, business, computers and technology, engineering, security, space, intelligence, and safety 

Fun fact: Embry-Riddle is known as the world’s leading aviation and aerospace university, producing more than 25% of commercial pilots in the U.S. 

Keiser University 

Location: Daytona Beach 

Enrollment: 19,000 across 22 locations worldwide 

Popular programs: Animation and game design, artificial intelligence, business, cinematic arts, exercise and sports science, legal studies, nursing, and political science 

Fun fact: Keiser has monthly class starts, so admission counselors are available to assist students to enroll in whatever month they want to begin. 

Palmer College of Chiropractic 

Location: Port Orange 

Enrollment: 900 

Popular programs: Anatomy, sports chiropractic, 3D learning, flexion distraction and diversified techniques 

Fun fact: Palmer officials say the need for chiropractor graduates is growing, with an estimated 50 million Americans now seeing a chiropractor each year. 

Stetson University 

Location: DeLand 

Enrollment: 2,700 

Popular programs: Biochemistry, marketing, religious studies, music performance, entrepreneurship, world languages and cultures 

Fun fact: Stetson Hatters athletics has 10 NCAA Division I sports, along with 16 student club sports, which include croquet, sand volleyball, equestrian, surfing and shooting. 

University of Central Florida Daytona Beach 

Location: Situated within the Daytona State College campus 

Enrollment: 70,000 throughout all its campuses and locations 

Popular programs: Nursing, health care, photography, criminal justice, engineering, hospitality, education, and leadership and management 

Fun fact: UCF-Daytona Beach embraces diversity, as evidenced by the campus having dozens of resources and organizations to benefit Hispanic and Latin American students.
