Prairie Creek Reservoir, located just southeast of Muncie, offers more than 1,250 acres of aquatic recreation and more than 750 land acres. Visitors enjoy swimming, boating and fishing on the lake or relaxing on its beach, as well as camping, hiking, cycling and horseback riding.
The internationally recognized Ironman 70.3 Muncie will celebrate its 45th race this summer! Hundreds of athletes from six continents flock to Muncie every year to compete in the prestigious triathlon.

The Cardinal Greenway is the longest rail-trail in Indiana, spanning 62 miles from Marion through Muncie to Richmond in East Central Indiana. White River Greenway is a paved surface of over 5 miles, used for nonmotorized travel.
Visitors can access Hughes Nature Preserve nestled between the Cardinal Greenway and the White River. This 7-acre urban site is part of the larger natural corridor that includes the Cardinal and White River greenways and Craddock Wetlands. Its plaza is perfect for picnicking and basking in nature.
Red-Tail Nature Preserve is located between Prairie Creek Reservoir and the Cardinal Greenway, connecting two significant wildlife habitats and recreation areas. The publicly accessible wide loop trail offers ample opportunities to view native flora and fauna, along with migratory birds.
Muncie boasts 28 public parks throughout the city, offering a variety of picnic shelters and recreation options that range from tennis and basketball courts to baseball fields, disc golf courses and horseshoe pits to shuffleboard and more.
